About This Story
An ordinary evening, an old book, and a breeze from nowhere -- and the two of you are in another age: ancient Pompeii, Renaissance Venice, a Viking fjord, Edo Japan, Paris in the 1920s. Strangers there, and still exactly yourselves. You meet (someone trips; someone catches), team up on something that age needs doing, survive a goat, lose it all in the rain and fix it together. "I'd have found you in any century." Back home, one small thing came back with you. Both of you painted from your photos -- at your real ages.
